International HIV & Drug Use Fellowship, USA 2012

With the support of the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), the International AIDS Society (IAS) has established a research fellowship programme focusing on HIV and drug use, with the goal of contributing to advances in the scientific understanding of drug use and HIV, while fostering international collaborative research on HIV and drug use (see FAQ for definition of research areas covered by the fellowship).
The fellowship programme is awarded as a stipend of US$75,000 in two categories: to a junior scientist for 18-month post-doctoral training, or to a well-established HIV researcher for an eight-month-long professional development training at leading host institutes excelling in HIV-related drug use research.
In 2011, three fellowships have been awarded. The fellows and their mentors have been invited to attend the 6th IAS Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention (IAS 2011) in Rome, Italy, on 17-20 July 2011, where the awards ceremony took place.
Eligibility
Post-doctoral training: Junior investigators with a doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, MD) obtained no more than six years before the time of application in the fields of behavioural and social sciences, biological sciences, chemistry, engineering, mathematics, medicine, physics or public health (other disciplines may also be considered) are eligible. Applicants must hold a doctorate degree or equivalent before the start of the fellowship, but not necessarily when applying. Medical doctors who obtained a MD degree no more than eight years ago and who do not have extended research experience can be allowed to apply to a post-doctoral fellowship. Summary :
The Simons Foundation Division for Mathematics and the Physical Sciences invites applications for the Simons Graduate Fellowships in Theoretical Computer Science program. Simons Graduate Fellows are graduate students with an outstanding track record of research accomplishments.
Rationale: Theoretical Computer Science is unique in that star graduate students working independently produce some of the best results in the field. After two or three years one can identify many of the emerging stars in the field. The prestigious Simons Graduate Fellowships will identify and support these stars. The Fellowship will allow such students further collaborations with peers and more senior researchers.
Level and Duration of Funding: A Simons Graduate Fellowship is awarded for a period of two years. An awardee must be a graduate student for the duration of the Fellowship. Each award will provide annual support for the following:
Fellowship stipend as set by the student’s institution.
Tuition and fees at the student’s institution, to the extent previously covered by other outside funding.
$3,000 in additional support for the student to use at his/her discretion.
$5,000 per year toward the student’s health insurance and other fringe benefits.
$5,000 per year for travel, books, a computer and other supplies.
$5,000 in institutional overhead allowance.

Family Support Services Scholarship Award Application

The Connecticut Funeral Directors Association is committed to excellence in funeral service education. CFDA will award eight (8) $500 scholarships (one in each Connecticut county) to students interested in pursuing careers in a profession that provides emotional or medical support to families.
All scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the Scholarship Award Committee of the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association. Awards will be based on application information, academic record and the evaluation of the required essays. The decision of the Scholarship Award Committee will be final. The Committee reserves the right not to award the scholarship if there are no applicants or if the applicants do not meet the standards of the Committee.
