Purpose: One-time fellowships to help exceptionally promising students prepare for careers of teaching and scholarship in humanistic studies. Must be a U. S. citizen or

Charlotte W. Newcombe Doctoral Dissertation Fellowships

Purpose: Fellowships designed to encourage original and significant study of ethical or religious values in all fields of the humanities and social sciences. Award covers twelve months of full-time dissertation writing. Graduate schools asked to waive tuition for Newcombe Fellows. Must be a U.S. or Canadian citizen. Purpose: Prepares undergraduates academically and professionally to enter the U.S. Department of State Foreign Service after completion of master's degree. A cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher must be maintained throughout participation in the program. Applicants must be college sophomores, U.S. citizens and have minimum 3.2 GPA at time of application. Purpose: Prepares individuals to become Foreign Service Officers in U.S. Dept. of State. At time of application, candidates must be seeking admission to graduate school for the following academic year. Must enroll in two-year master's degree programs (such as public policy, international affairs, public administration, or business, economics, political science, sociology or foreign languages). Provides tuition, room, board and fees for the first and second year of graduate study. Must be U.S. citizen and have undergraduate GPA of 3.2 or above. Deadline is February 27. Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation Dissertation Grants in Women's Studies

Purpose: Women's studies research grants for PhD candidates writing their dissertation on topics concerning women. Must submit research prospectus, bibliography, and timetable. One-time award of up to $3000. To encourage original and significant research about women on such topics as the evolution of women's role in society, women in history, women's health, psychology of women, and women as seen in literature and art. Deadline is November 4.
