(Four Year College, Two Year College, University/Scholarship)

Purpose: One-time scholarship for natural or adopted descendent of a New York Legionnaire. Must be graduating high school senior or high school graduate under 21 years. Must be accepted at recognized college or university. Must submit letter explaining why qualified for
scholarship. One award of $250. Qualif.: Applicant must be: age 20 or younger , full-time student. High school students not considered. Award available to employees or relatives of employees within the following industries: community service.

American Legion Department of New York James F. Mulholland Scholarship

(Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: Two scholarships for New York students who are high school seniors. Parent must be a New York State American Legionnaire. Must have been accepted by recognized learning institution and must attend for one year to receive award. One-time awards of $500. Focus: Education Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students considered. Award available to employees or relatives of employees within the following industries: community service.

American Legion, Department of New York Press Association Scholarship

(Four Year College, University/Scholarship)

Purpose: A $1000 scholarship is available to children of NY American Legion or American Legion Auxiliary members, members of SAL or ALA Juniors or graduates of NY AL Boys State or Girls State. Must be entering or attending accredited four-year college pursuing communications degree. Focus: Communications Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

American Legion Department of New York State High School Oratorical Contest

(University/Scholarship)

Purpose: Oratorical contest open to students under the age of twenty in 9th-12th grades of any accredited New York high school. Speech contests begin in November at post levels and continue on to national competition. Contact local American Legion post for deadlines. Must be U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident. Payments are made directly to college and are awarded over a four-year period. Qualif.: Applicant must be: age 19 or younger . High school students considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Funds Avail.: Minimum no. of awards: 65. Minimum award amount: $75. Maximum award amount: $6000. No. and Amount Awarded Last Calendar Year: 65 scholarship(s), totalling $30,250.
