Wal-Mart Associate Scholarships

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University/Scholarship)

Purpose: Awards for college-bound high school seniors who work for Wal-Mart or whose parents are part-time Wal-Mart associates or have not been with the company for one year. Based on ACT or SAT scores, counselor recommendations, transcripts, class rank, activities, and financial need. One-time award of up to $2000. For use at an accredited two- or four-year U.S. institution. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students considered. Award available to U.S. citizens. Award available to employees or relatives of employees within the following industries: designated career field. Student must be affiliated with Wal-Mart Foundation.

Funds Avail.: Minimum no. of awards: 150. Maximum no. of awards: 300. Maximum award amount: $2000. No. and Amount Awarded Last Calendar Year: 258 scholarship(s), totalling $258,000. Wal-Mart Higher Reach Scholarship

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University/Scholarship)

Purpose: For non-traditional students who have been employed full-time by Wal-Mart for at least a year by February 1. Award is based on financial need, academic record, essay, and job performance. Applications are available from each location personnel office in November. Qualif.: Applicant must be: part-time student. High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens. Award available to employees or relatives of employees within the following industries: designated career field. Student must be affiliated with Wal-Mart Foundation.

Sam Walton Community Scholarship

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University/Scholarship)

Purpose: Award for high school seniors not affiliated with Wal-Mart stores. Based on academic merit, financial need, and school or work activities. Each store awards one nonrenewable scholarship. For use at an accredited two- or four-year U.S. institution. Must have 2.5 GPA. Applications available only through local Wal-Mart or Sam's Club stores starting in December. Applications are not available from the corporate office. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Funds Avail.: Minimum no. of awards: 2900. Maximum no. of awards: 3400. Minimum award amount: $1000. No. and Amount Awarded Last Calendar Year: 2952 scholarship(s), totalling $2,952,000. Walton Family Foundation Scholarship

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University/Scholarship)

Purpose: Award for high-school seniors who are children of a Wal-Mart associate who has been employed as a full-time associate for at least one year. $8000 undergraduate scholarship payable over four years. Must submit latest federal income tax return. Contact a member of Wal-Mart management for an application starting in November each year. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students considered. Award available to U.S. citizens. Student must be affiliated with Wal-Mart Foundation.

Funds Avail.: Minimum no. of awards: 100. Maximum no. of awards: 120. Minimum award amount: $8000. No. and Amount Awarded Last Calendar Year: 100 scholarship(s), totalling $600,000.
