Robert B. Bailey III Minority Scholarships for Education Abroad

(Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: One-time award for students from underrepresented groups in study abroad participating in Council for International Educational Exchange (CIEE)-administered overseas program. Application deadlines: April 1 and November 1. Applicant must be self-identified as belonging to an underrepresented group in study abroad. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens. Award intended for the blind, hearing impaired, physically handicapped, learning impaired. Award available to the following races: Native American/Eskimo; Asian; African American; Hispanic.

Funds Avail.: Minimum no. of awards: 15. Maximum no. of awards: 300. Minimum award amount: $500. No. and Amount Awarded Last Calendar Year: 24 scholarship(s), totalling $12,000. Bowman Travel Grant

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University, Vocational/Occupational/Grant)

Purpose: The Bowman Travel Grant is awarded only to eligible students participating in a life study or volunteer programs in less traditional destinations. Recipients must be attending a CIEE member or academic consortium member institution. Recipients receive awards to be used as partial reimbursement for travel costs to program destination. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Council on International Educational Exchange Scholarship

Must be enrolled in a CIEE program and attending a CIEE member or academic consortium member school. Application deadlines are April 1 and November 1. Department of Education Scholarship for Programs in China

(Four Year College, University/Scholarship)

Purpose: Scholarships offered to students who are pursuing Chinese language programs in China. Must be a U.S. citizen enrolled in a CIEE program. Students must have the equivalent of two years study in Chinese language documented. Deadlines are April 15 and November 15. For more details see Web site: http://www.ciee.org.
